I am so excited for your session and I feel so honored to capture these special moments for you and you're growing family!

I’ve created this guide to help you get the most out of your photos!

Let's Talk Colors

Colors are so important and really help with my editing style!

My backdrops that I will be using for your family photos are warm colored (beige, brown, white if you choose).

When choosing color(s) for your outfits, I recommend selecting soft, light tones and muted shades. Avoid bright colors.

"Safe" Colors:

Sage green, forest green, golden yellow, burnt orange, heather gray, creams, tans, leather, denim, blush, soft white/cream, and black as accent pieces.

Colors to avoid:
Red, purple, bright white, bright yellow

Family Coordination

My number one principle for a family for their photo session is "coordinating, not matching."

1) START WITH A "THREE CORE COLOR" PALETTE OF NEUTRALS & NEARLY-NEUTRALS

2) ADD ONE OR TWO ACCENT COLORS
If you want to add a bit of variety, or if you can't find a complete outfit from your 3 core colors, add in one or two accent colors, to be used less frequently than the core colors.
These colors should complement the neutrals and nearly-neutrals that you're already using.

Cut & Style

Pants and a sweater or jeans with a simple top are both awesome choices! Dresses and skirts look amazing too, just keep in mind that half of the time you will be sitting with your family, so length is important.

Men- Nice fitting button up, neutral polo, long sleeve or sweater. Layering can be fun!

Shoes do not matter, you will be photographer waist up.

Rarely your lower body will be in the photo if you are sitting with baby and siblings-- in that case I will have you barefoot on the backdrop.

Fabrics & Prints

A solid-colored fabric is always a winner, but if you don't want to wear (or don't have) a solid-colored dress, select a print that is minimalist and understated, rather than bold and design-forward. Dainty florals are lovely.

Another way to add visual interest is to opt for texture like lace, seersucker, linen, denim, chiffon, or tulle.

Caution- Some sweaters or sweater like material may have a small/tight knit or design, when this design is photographed it may show up busy and "pixelated" almost like distorted lines, this happens from the photo being compressed for computer and phone use etc.
